The PGA Tour takes on the Rocket Classic this week for the final time at Detroit Golf Club. We are in the closing stretches of the 2026 PGA Tour season, and things are getting EXCITING . Jackson Koivun, the new star out on Tour, collected his first PGA Tour win last week at the 3M. He was also one of the first on the property, it seems, at the newly renovated Detroit Golf Club. Let’s dive into the numbers for this week’s tournament with Bet The Number, the premier golf analytics platform.
The Course Blueprint 🗺️ The Detroit Golf Club will now play as a par 70, down from a par 72, after holes 7 & 17 have been slightly shortened and are now par 4s instead of par 5s. There will be fewer birdies, obviously, with 2 fewer par 5’s than before. The greens are soft after being sodded, and we’re hearing they are slow.
This place was always a wedge fest in the past, and there will be plenty of shorter approaches. Just as important as wedges are the longer approach shots, where those newer par 4’s could add a couple to the mix. There have been some changes around the greens on a handful of holes that will require a little more attention around the greens as well.
We can expect the course to play easily still, but with slightly worse scores than before due to the par 5s being converted to par 4s. We’re expecting a little rain on Saturday so we could get even softer greens going into a Sunday finish.
Let’s dive into an updated BTN model this week from last year:
OTT: A lot of drivers this week, with many hitting 11 or 12 per round. The corridors, while treelined, aren’t narrow. We brought down our OTT % in the model this year, using SG:OTT per round vs. field at a 20% weighting this week
APP: There are a lot of short and long approaches this week. Two par 3’s under 175 yards. Look for guys to continue taking dead aim at these flags. We used 3 different versions of the approach stats in our model this week. We used standard SG:APP per round vs. field at 15% weighting , SG: APP per attempt from 100-150 yards at a 10% weighting , and SG: APP per attempt from 200+ yards at a 10% weighting .
ATG: Chipping will be a slightly increased factor this week from last year, with some of these updates around the greens. The contenders will still hit a ton of GIRs, so we used SG:ARG per round vs. field at a 10% weighting this week .
Putting: Putting performance will be a differentiator this week. After they sodded the greens, they’re slower and will require more attention. Almost similar to a Scottish Open in a way. We’ve used standard SG: Putting per round vs. field at a 10% weighting, with SG: Putting from 8-15 feet at a 25% weighting this week.
This week’s BTN Model favorite is (🥁 drumroll please…) Wyndham Clark, Jackson Koivun, and Ben Kohles as the favorites. Is it possible for the 21 year old to go back-to-back wins? Will Patrick Cantlay get his first win in 4 years? With the playoffs right around the corner, we’ve got a lot of potential for an exciting finish this weekend!

There is only one man on the board, in this field, and possibly on all of planet Earth who can give us the bounce-back week we need.
That man is Si Woooooo Kim.
We’ve laid off him a decent amount this year, but the time is nigh. Our confidence needs a little kick in the backside, and we’re trusting Si Woo to deliver it this week at the Rocket Classic on the newly renovated Detroit Golf Club.
Si Woo checks a lot of boxes for us this week, especially off the tee, on approach, and around the green. He also comes in 25th in the overall BTN Custom Model, while Xander sits 51st. That’s a nice little gap for a matchup where Si Woo is the slight underdog.
Xander, meanwhile, continues to battle the same inconsistent form we’ve seen most of the season. He checks the box off the tee, but the irons have been shaky lately, losing strokes on approach in four of his last six starts. That is not exactly what we want to back on a course nobody has truly seen in this new form.
Kim may be a slight underdog according to the oddsmakers, but he’s always a favorite in our hearts and souls. Give us Si Woo to find fairways, hit enough irons close, and launch us right back to the cash window this week in Detroit.
